Attn: Information from Boise City on Plan Review

2/25/2011
To whom it may concern:
To expedite the final inspections we are asking for additional information be provided on the drawings, especially on quick permits.
When there is a request for a new occupancy permit, please show ALL sprinklers within the building department scope of work(the entire tenant space). Usually, this happens when there is a new tenant. The building department scope of work may be much larger than your scope of work.

History:
The following has been occurring:
The sprinkler contractor is only showing the sprinklers within their scope of work. This may be just one small room within a much larger tenant space. During the final inspection, the fire inspectors find areas, where the sprinklers are over spaced or under spaced or no sprinkler exists at all where there should be sprinklers. This causes the inspection to fail. The new tenant cannot move in because the sprinklers are wrong.
The drawings must be resubmitted and the fire protection corrected. This will delay the new tenant’s occupancy. Obviously, this causes animosity with the new tenant between the city and you the sprinkler contractor. Therefore, please show ALL the sprinklers within the building department scope of work on the drawings (the entire tenant space). We will not deny the fire permit if something outside your scope of work is incorrect. However, the fire sprinkler review will indicate that additional work must be performed, before an occupancy permit may be issued.
We hope, this will help prevent delays for the tenant at the end of the project. The tenant will be able to address the problems early in the project.
As always, should you have any questions feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time and cooperation in this matter.
Cordially,

Tim Frost, S.E.T.
